Did you know we have a copy of the Orwell News from 1896 in our local history collection? It was mailed to the library ten years ago from Cooperstown, NY by a man who was renovating his house. He found it in the floorboards of that home, and was kind enough to mail it back to us.
Currently, we are working to digitize some of the historical photos that were donated to us by the Ray Fry family. At some point, they will be available to the public through our website.
It’s time for another game day!!
Melissa, our YA and teen services librarian, will be hosting a no-school edition of the popular event on Friday, Jan. 13th.
We’ll pull out all the laptops, and the kindles and even the snacks.
If you have a gaming system, you’re welcome to bring it if you wish. We can play it on the big screen.
The fun runs from 11-4 and it’s open for those in grades 5 thru 12.
if you need any additional info, give Melissa a call or stop in at the library.
We recently said a farewell to our dear friend and board member Rose Stackhouse. Besides being a board member, she was also a member of the friends of the library. Also, she had many collections that we would sometimes feature in our little showcase closest to the door.
Rose will be missed by everyone here at GVPL.
